PACS Migration Readiness Checker

Before estimating a migration date, check whether the evidence and controls are in place. Answer eight questions about your planning process—not individual patients or studies.

Private, transparent and useful without an email

Answers are processed in this browser tab. They are not uploaded, saved in browser storage or included in enquiry forms. Do not enter patient or confidential information. Refreshing the page clears the answers. Print and text download create a copy only when you request it.

How the result is determined · version 1.0

Each answer is Yes — documented, No, or Not sure. All questions must be answered. No and Not sure both create a task; foundational gaps appear first, followed by other actions in question order. No weighting, external scan or AI scoring is used.

This planning aid does not inspect your PACS, certify compatibility, estimate duration or authorize a migration. A qualified project team must validate the environment and agree acceptance criteria.

0 of 8 answered

1. Is the migration scope documented, including exclusions and an accountable owner?

Foundational check

Look for an agreed archive/date range and a signed list of what is out of scope.

2. Do you have a source inventory with a documented reconciliation baseline?

Foundational check

The baseline should identify what you expect to find at the destination, not just a storage-volume estimate.

3. Have source and destination SOP Classes and transfer syntaxes been compared?

Foundational check

Use the relevant versions of both conformance statements and include non-image objects such as structured reports.

4. Does the pilot sample cover representative ages, modalities and exception types?

Follow-up check

Include uncommon object types and known problematic groups, not only a convenient recent study.

5. Have operating windows and observed transfer capacity been agreed?

Follow-up check

Use a measured pilot under realistic load; link speed alone is not a migration throughput estimate.

6. Is there a documented exception, retry and escalation process?

Follow-up check

Assign someone to classify failures, decide the next action and record unresolved items.

7. Are destination reconciliation and acceptance criteria agreed?

Foundational check

Include how missing objects, warnings and clinically relevant display checks will be reviewed.

8. Is a recovery and legacy-retention plan documented?

Foundational check

Keep a reviewed way to recover or access the source until the agreed acceptance process is complete.
